DCI denies allegations of attempting to block Gachagua from attending church
DCI boss Amin Mohamed claimed in a statement on Tuesday that the report is false and misrepresents the DCI's intentions and actions.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied claims that its detectives attempted to prevent former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from attending church.
This follows a report in a local newspaper alleging that detectives used an unmarked Subaru vehicle to try and block Gachagua from attending a church service on Sunday.

However, the former DP and his allies attended a church service at the Priesthood Fellowship Church in Kahawa West, Nairobi, as originally planned.
DCI boss Amin Mohamed claimed in a statement on Tuesday that the report is false and misrepresents the DCI's intentions and actions.
"We want to clarify that these allegations are entirely false and seem to be aimed at misrepresenting the actions and intentions of the DCI," he stated.
"The DCI operates within the parameters established by the rule of law and has consistently affirmed its commitment to refraining from interference in the liberties of individuals and institutions," Amin added.
The agency also refuted claims by the reporter that no comment was available from the DCI. The DCI boss asserted that the DCI provided a prompt response to the inquiry, which was acknowledged by the reporter.
"The Director of Criminal Investigations provided a prompt response, reaffirming the DCI's commitment to respecting the autonomy of religious institutions, and the writer acknowledged receipt of this response," Amin said.
The DCI stressed the importance of accuracy and fairness in journalism, particularly in cases involving reputations and institutional integrity.
The agency urged media outlets to thoroughly verify facts and present balanced perspectives, especially on sensitive topics.
"This is particularly important when the information affects individuals' reputations and the integrity of institutions," Amin added.
